A bicycle gear changer is a device that achieves the effect of changing the riding speed by adjusting the position of the chain on the gears. This type of transmission mainly consists of two parts: the front transmission and the rear transmission.
The rear transmission is installed on the rear wheel of the bicycle, and its task is to adjust the chain from one gear to another. The rear transmission is composed of a hook and an eye lever. The hook, also known as the sprocket, is located on both sides of the rear wheel and serves to hold or release the chain, facilitating smooth switching between different gears. Its shape and size vary with the type and design of the transmission, but it is generally equipped with hooks for grasping the chain. The eye wheel, also known as the guide wheel, is located above the rear wheel. Its function is to guide the chain to move along the gear and ensure the accurate meshing of the chain and the gear. Eye picks are usually equipped with guide wheels to steer the chain and may contain limit devices to prevent the chain from falling off or getting stuck during movement.
The front gearshift is located above the front wheel of the bicycle, and its function is also to adjust the chain from one gear to another. Although the structure and working mode of the front transmission are similar to those of the rear transmission, there are also some differences. For instance, the front transmission is often equipped with guide wheels and sprockets, which are designed to direct the movement of the chain and stabilize it on the appropriate
gears.
